After 20+ year of service to Bell Atlantic/Verizon I decided to retire.The creation of the FiOS-TV platform was certainly a fun and exciting time and the time spent developing IPTV standards in ATIS will be my fondest memories of my years there.

As a DMTS at Verizon my focus is Network Architecture. In particular, Video Network Architecture. I was the lead architect on the creation of the FiOS-TV service now deployed throughout Verizon's region over their Fiber To The Premise (FTTP) network. Recently my attentions have been focused on the in-home network architecture.

After serving four years as the IIF's Chair I had to step down because of term limits. I am continuing to work towards end-to-end IPTV standards now as the Vice Chair of the Forum

The IIF was a Forum within the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS). ATIS is an ANSI accredited Global Standards Development organization headquartered in Washington D.C.. The IIF was comprised of five committees: Architecture, IPTV Security Solutions, Metadata and Transactions, Quality of Service (QoS)/Quality of Experience (QoE) Metrics and Test and Interoperability. Each committee is lead by two Co-Chairs and I presided as Chair over the entire Forum. The IIF was focused on creating an end to end set of standards for IPTV service over a managed IP network.

Responsible for the architecture and design of a North East Regional Optical Network. The network provided a variety of transport services including optical wavelength, SONET and Gigabit Ethernet.

Tele-TV (a joint venture of Bell Atlantic, NYNEX and Pacific Bell) developed and deployed video solution for delivery over a variety of networks including MMDS RF spectrum, Digital Subscriber Line and ATM based Fiber To The Curb based networks. My role was that of a technical lead in the Architecture group and I was primarily focused on industry standards including the ISO/MPEG DSMCC standards, DAVIC and the ATSC standards.

Responsible for the specification, production and integration of a consumer set top box device to support Bell Atlantic's Stargazer Video On Demand offering. Represented Bell Atlantic on the ISO/MPEG Systems committee and DAVIC.

SkyPix was an early Direct To Home (DTH) satellite entertainment system and the first to use digital compression to multiplex services into a transponder.Responsible for technology integration and development of Business Support Systems

Lead the software development for computers that were used for news storage, retrieval and transmission. Developed a custom news copy editing terminal using off the shelf PC equipment. Developed a dtabase/wireservice interface for the collecting and reporting of Election return results based on a Unix System 5 micro-computer system and oversaw the installation of 24 such systems in the US to provide national coverage.

Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Associated Press's US national news distribution networks, newswires and computer systems, also responsible for the interface to the intenational networks. Responsible for management of the shift technology workers (Technicians, Wirephoto Operators and Teletype operators).
