Software Engineer

At Atonometrics, I developed controllers for solar panel test equipment. This includes hardware development, firmware development and maintenance, software development and systems integration with PC and PLC hardware.When I arrived at Atonometrics, the principal product was a current-voltage measurement system controlled by an 8051-series controller connected to a host computer using a highly constrained TELNET protocol. I worked with management and the engineering team to develop a new system based on the ARM Cortex-M4. Leading the embedded systems development, I contacted suppliers, evaluated controller options, and lead the system architecture definition and schematic capture for a system based on Freescale Kinetis. We were one of the first adopters of the Kinetis series (I was working with PK60's on the first batch of boards). As part of the platform architecture, I implemented the enabling circuitry to switch the internal system communication from SPI to CAN and implement an RMII-to-PHY ethernet interface. Host computer communication was changed from the TCP-based TELNET to a UDP protocol, allowing for broadcast messaging to multiple monitoring PCs. I worked closely with mechanical engineering and layout contractors to ensure safety isolation, signal integrity, and power supply requirements were properly specified and validated. Assisted with system level FMEA. After the launch of the I-V system product, I worked with engineering to repackage a portion of the product into a new compact version for field measurements as part of a soiling measurement system.

At 21CT, I conducted research on SBIR grants across a wide range of topics, including control of unmanned systems, image processing, human factors, and natural language processing.My contribution to these efforts focused in two main areas: control and coorindation, and image processing.Control and coordination schemes that I developed included generation and validation of motion models, control methods, and multi-agent coordination. I also advised on the development of evolutionary neural controllers for agent coordination.Image processing principally focused on adaptive foveated image processing. Also, I aided in the development of GPU-based foveated filtering and application of those filters to game simulation environments.

Test Development Engineer

My experience at ANADIGICS included extensive electrical test and measurement. I designed and constructed test circuits and wrote computer programs to coordinate test instruments. Also, I assisted in the statistical analysis of test results, including T-Tests and ANOVA Gage R&R.I would best describe the experience as a test and insturmentation tour de force, including exposure to or development of just about every test conducted on GaAs power amplifiers.Much of this work occurred in clean spaces of varying degrees.
