Mobility is a challenge for people without a private car in rurel areas. The council of Tholen can't preserve all services in every small town and village of the stretched community surface. Public Transport only provides a bus between the most important destinations. To avoid high costs in the future, we will organise an alternative mobility system, already successfully experimented in the small town of Sint-Annaland. Volunteers play an important role; quality equipment as well. Aim is to provide mobility for all people of Tholen, with acceptable conditions to avoid exclusion.

Dementia care is a responsability for many organisations in a community. Although very professional, all these organisations can have their own vision on dementia care. That's confusing for the cliënt. The pilot will try to connect all organisations around the validated dementia care method of Böhm in order to follow one and the same structure in dementia care. The aim is to enhance autonomy in life, refind the feeling of usefull living and stay at home as long as possible; avoiding high societal costs.The aim is also to improve quality of life in dementia until the very last days of a life.

Together with two collegues we work on liveability projects for housing associations, care organisations, local authority and private development companies. We use international experience from all over Western Europe to build policy and projects. Important for us is, that people in the neighbourhood are well involved and that projects are both socially and financially profitable. We made special models to calculate return of investments. Besides projects in the Netherlands, Britain and France, we organise professional study trips and exchanges for housing and liveability specialists.

Het jeugdbegeleidingsfonds 'Remy' is een initiatief van Becx & van Loon. Met beperkte middelen uit de eigen organisatie, maar vooral ook met intensieve persoonlijke coaching ondersteunen wij enkele jong volwassenen op hun eigen verzoek. Zij zijn tot hun 18e jaar doorgaans onder de hoede van jeugdzorg of een andere instantie geweest, maar hebben desondanks geen kans gezien in die tijd hun leven te ordenen. Wijsheid komt soms ook met de jaren.. Wij bieden een kans, met begrip voor bijzondere omstandigheden, gebrek aan sociale vaardigheden en teleurstelling in de maatschappij. Het is een sterk 'voor wat hoort wat' principe, maar wel in stappen die worden begrepen. We staan op het standpunt, dat niemand vóór hij of zij echt volwassen is 'genoeg' kansen heeft gehad. Dat is een vorm van onverstandig plaatsvervangend denken. Niet alle hulpverzoeken zijn geslaagd, maar toch genoeg om er van overtuigd te zijn dat het werkt.

ENPP-Böhm is the international organisation for education and consultancy concerning the Böhm method for more self determination in dementia. Some 125 organisations have already received a certification in this method and show how dementia can be less of a problem for both people who suffer from it and those who care for them. Far more self determination is possible, much less care is needed. In the Netherlands I work together with Zorg Giersbergen Consultancy to teach as much caregivers and care organisations as possible how to work with this method and enjoy the same encouraging results.

With its community coöperation for welfare and care, Sint-Annaland has an exceptionally strong voluntary organisation. This is an opportunity for connecting both formal and informal care around vulnerable people in community, in order to support them with their autonomy and wellbeing. In this project the elderly care organisation 'De Schutse Zorg Tholen' is formally in lead. Homecare organisation 'Allévo', practice for general medical service 'De Smisse', Tholen local authority and of course community coöperation 'Anna Zorgt' are participating.

Working on two major projects for children that need special education, both meant to improve their position in society once they left school. First project is to get a home in the a neighbourhood up and running for 'learning to live in the neighbourhood' and 'making yourself usefull in your neighbourhood'.Second project is to provide long term work experience for children in their own neighbourhood who should have a job when they leave school, but need more time to learn what 'work' really means, before they can succeed.

Supported by subsidy from NutsOhra and 5 individual companies and Eindhoven Technical University, we organise and implement a project to prevent escalation and support de-escalation for people with a mental handicap, combined with severe behaviour problems. We will build a 'personal device', based upon sensory interaction, that can be used by target group itself. It will be a totally new invention that will help to preserve and improve quality of life.

'Woonzorg Unie' developed an innovative project for housing with care for people with dementia. They co operate with academic specialists and state of the art developments. We support WZU in finding international partners to share experience and experiments. We support also in finding necessary extra funding for the project.

I started as a trainer in social housing issues, was send to France since 1992, when European connections in social housing were made and organised very many international exchange. Became specialist in liveability subjects all over Europe and published for instance about responsibility of housing associations for people in the neighbourhood.

Organisatie voor zomerkampen voor kinderen met een luchtwegaandoening, nauw verbonden met het Astmafonds.Naast begeleiding en verzorging bij de handicap tijdens de zomermaanden in toenemende mate ook het oppakken van doorgaans zware sociale problemen bij achterliggende gezinssituaties. Met name trainen op sociale vaardigheden en het coachen naar zelfstandigheid in moeilijke omstandigheden.
