De Mensch is a training institute for dementia care. We are committed to the Psychobiographic Care Method by professor Erwin Böhm.Our basic course in PB-care is acknowledged by the Dutch association of professionals in nursing and care V&VN.

The main objective was to experiment with the introduction of a local Community Currency as an economic means to integrate the implementation of different sets of policies from local government, local non-profit organisations and housing associations, by giving incentives for desired behaviour. The project experimented the scheme in cooperation with these organisations and other commercial local businesses that are interested in promoting safe and livable neighbourhoods and that want to take part in the effort. We used a Community Currency as a means to engage local residents to actively participate in their neighbourhood, helping each other with small services, making their neighbourhood a clean, safe and great place to live.These interventions are contributing to goals coming from three policy areas: improving levels of service and care on a local level, improving possibilities for vulnerable groups to enter the labour market and creating livable neighbourhoods. The experiment was successful and became one of the largest digital alternative currencies in Europe. It is continued as a service to the citizens of Tholen en Bergen op Zoom in the Netherlands and was copied by other cities.

Succesfully applied for EU funding in the AAL call-3. Built a consortium of 8 organisations in 3 countries. We developed telecare systems to stimulate people with dementia to become more active and preserve their cognitive functions. We have tested video stimulation for walking and mastication (chewing) and experimented with sensors to observe and analyse quality of walking in people with dementia. Also we have developed and tested an interactive calendar for people with dementia, to be used on android tablets. This will now be become part of an implementation study in day-care settings to extend the reach of the daycare program out into the homecare situation.

Giving lectures and workshops to students in cooperation between Go Dutch Consortium and the University of DC. The workshops will be on revitalizing Lincoln Heights, an underserved neighborhood in Washington DC.Go Dutch is Partners in Business with the Dutch Government and as part of the K2K program Go Dutch is transferring knowledge to US institutions.The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) embodies the land--‐grant tradition of UDC. In addition to offering innovative academic programs in architecture & community development, environmental science & urban sustainability, health education, nursing, nutrition & dietetics, they also offer a wide range of community education programs.

De Vakopleiding Leefbaarheid van fmh werkt met de definitie van leefbaarheid die door Nestor Solutions is ontwikkeld.Ik coach een aantal studenten tijdens de opleiding met hun projecten en persoonlijke ontwikkeling. Daarnaast geef ik een middag college over samenwerken in leefbaarheidsprojecten. Het binden van verschillende partijen met verschillende culturen en belangen in projecten rond leefbaarheid is geen makkelijke opgave. Onze studenten krijgen handvatten en voorbeelden uit de praktijk en leren omgaan met andere organisaties maar zeker ook met mensen in hun eigen organisatie.
