At 11 years old I knew I wanted to work in broadcasting. After hanging around local radio stations answering phones, writing down requests and finding records, I eventually became a disc jockey. In the 30 years in broadcasting that followed I have been a news director and a sports director at several radio stations in Alabama and Georgia. I was the radio play-by-play voice of University of Alabama Baseball and Women's Basketball teams. I also produced the Alabama High School Boys Basketball Championship Tournament and Football All-star games a couple of years and was the radio voice of Holt High and Central High Football.In television I worked as a Chief Political reporter and morning news producer/anchor. For a number of years I did TV play-by-play for Tuscaloosa City School's High School Football Game of the Week on Comcast. I also had a brief stint is sports talk radio, cohosting mornings on WJOX with the famed sportscaster Doug Layton.Over the years I was fortunate to garner recognition of my work from Associated Press and the National Association of Sportscasters.I'm now working in my two callings. My second love and calling is helping people in need thus my second career in Emergency Management. Having volunteered for 20 years it was only natural to move into a full time job as Deputy Director of Tuscaloosa County EMA. Eight years later I moved up to the State EMA as a Division Coordinator where I currently liaison between the state and 10 county EMAs.I am a State Certified Advanced Emergency Manager. I currently hold memberships in the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers (AAEM) and the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM). I also am a Certified Alabama Hazardous Materials Technician.My wife Nancy is a retired elementary school teacher and is originally from Clanton, AL. We have an adult son and daughter and a 4 year old grandson. We belong to Forest Lake United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa. Our faith has taken us on several short-term mission trips to Chile.
