Sr. Network Engineer
Louisville, Kentucky, Us
- Spearheaded a groundbreaking project at our new datacenter facility, in which we modernized an abandoned AT&T wireless POP. This project had many facets but some of my favorites are:Researched and developed a power capacity and distribution design, airflow optimization, and structured cabling designs for the renovation of the facility.Avoided the repurchasing of power distribution gear by recognizing and repurposing the existing gear, rewiring it for higher voltages.- Owned and executed a project to enhance our infrastructure and applications monitoring capabilities throughout the entire organization. Seen as the subject matter and project expert in infrastructure monitoring and management.- Designed and built the next generation platform for data acquisition and voice notification. This included the entire stack up to the application.- Was a thought leader in the adoption of ITIL V2 standards across the organization, advocated change and worked on adapting our then current support and change processes.- Chaired a project to dramatically increase network availability by breaking up a large flat Layer 2 network into a more isolated and manageable Layer 3 switched network.- Created a business use case for virtualizing Appriss' systems, and implemented that plan with management approval.- Recognized by CA as a valuable customer liaison during the development of their new Spectrum Service Assurance Product, as well as their current SPECTRUM and eHealth products.- Maintained a reputation of being able to locate bugs in software and was relied on by both Appriss and CA to vet software and firmware across the entire technology stack before release/acquisition. Colleagues would frequently say “If Donavan hasn't found a bug in it yet, we're worried we haven't vetted it enough.
