• Platform engineer designing an embedded Linux OS to boot a product using NOR flash to RAM drive resulting in a presentation providing key clues to the viability of the process.Senior Staff Engineer for a 4G Rapidly Deployable Network (RDN), responsibilities included: • Designed and developed the primary equipment/shelf manager/platform interface feature using GPSD for GPS monitoring and date/time synchronization, IPMI for shelf monitoring, control, status and health and created device driver for 1-PPS monitoring. • Designed and monitored the buildup of RDN product chassis hardware, shelf-manager firmware, Cavium CPU board and MicroTCA architecture. This included hands-on support and guidance of various 3rd party vendors. • Maintain three development servers, development and embedded OS, tools, users and hardware resulting in 4 years continuous use with no downtime. • Advised and assisted in Software Configuration Management function including the selection of SVN.

Network/Hardware/Software Developer: Alcatel-Lucent NGN, Plano Texas• Hardware Lead in the design and layout of 3 generations of platform hardware for the Next-Generation-Network (NGN) call servers. This included creation of 3 main models developed over a period of years from a Sun Netra/Compact PCI frame, Full Netra solution, and a model based on Sun T2000 Netra servers. These next generation call servers included: Sun Netra Servers, IP networking equipment, terminal server equipment. All 3 models are customer deployed. • Network Architect in the IP network design/build, troubleshooting/resolution and customer support; OS troubleshooting and support; Sun Microsystems hardware support, and several special projects. The generated a great deal of trust from the customer. • Determination of the scope and code modifications necessary for the porting of NGN code base from UNIX Solaris to Linux. Presentation of findings and opinions to group lead developers and management on the viability of this effort. The Linux port has been complted successfully • Provided modifications, profiling and compiler optimizations to NGN code base resulting in a performance increase of up to 43%.

• IT Lead for all business units, responsibilities included: network design and administration tasks, PC and Sun workstation administration, and equipment purchasing. These duties involved segmenting the network into functional business LANs, PC support, Solaris Support, secure remote access support to vendors, customers, and employees, equipment purchasing and equipment repair duties. This led to primary duties in IP network design on call server itself including a role in designing the hardware for new platforms. • The acquisition of Spatial Wireless by Alcatel, led me to become an employee of Alcatel. • Software Configuration Management Lead at the Richardson facility. I created procedures and implemented policies for good source code control based on my previous experience with ISO 9OO1 and Software Engineering Institute Capability Maturity Model (SEI CMM).• Designed and implemented the software to enforce policies while keeping the impact on engineering as low as possible.• Created and deployed a problem-reporting tool using the ClearQuest product, combined with Clearcase to create an all-in-one bug tracking, build tracking, and source code module tracking system.• Clearcase administrator responsible for installation of the Clearcase license server, VOB server, and user workstations. Also included the creation of VOBs, developed backup procedures, installation of ClearQuest product on both Sun and PC, configured and utilized the installed Oracle databases with ClearQuest.• System administrator for a network consisting of PC and Sun LANs, three separate lab LANs and four Oracle 8.0.5 and Oracle 8.1 installations. Administrator tasks included: network design, installation of the PCs and Suns, supervision of wiring for phone and data, configuration of Linux firewall to provide secure Internet connectivity, installed and configured the Extreme switches to divide the network up into five VLANs

• Assisted in the design and development of a software application used for configuration control and build management of software loads. • System administration for 25 Solaris servers used for running software builds. I maintained three Apache web servers including one utilizing Java Servlet Technology. Created and managed the makefiles for the IN group. Created training materials and conducted classes in the use of Clearcase.• I transferred to Alcatel by the acquisition of DSC Communications by Alcatel. Alcatel later became Alcatel-Lucent after Alcatel’s merger with Lucent Technologies.
