Responsible for all FOQA (Flight Operations Quality Assurance) data analysis for Envoy Air

Consulting with airline industry to mine flight data to improve safety and efficiency.

Analyzed flight data from commercial airline flights. My work resulted in a library of thousands of data analytics available to airlines for mining value from flight data. The goals include identification of flight safety risks and reduction in operating costs. My safety work includes multi-airline studies of traffic and ground collision avoidance, hard landings, as well as the creation of risk-assessment metrics for 11 accident categories. To improve airline operating efficiency, I created the "Block Cost Model." To date, this has resulted in documented fuel savings worth tens of millions of dollars. In addition, I created the JetLab analytic, that leverages GE's NPSS engine models, to determine root-causes of fuel inefficiency (broken down by engine fan or core degradation, airframe parasitic drag, trims, residual control surface positions, gross weight error, and so on). The models underlying JetLab will form the basis of high-fidelity flight simulation for flight planning and pre/post flight analysis moving forward.

Developed the configuration for flight data analysis software (Event Measurement System) including the design of flight phase transition logic, runway and airport identification, trajectory correction, and duplicate flight detection. I also created and maintained a library of definitions for flight data analysis and trained airline flight safety personnel in its use.

Flight test and development of digital flight control system on the Advanced Fighter Technology Integration (AFTI) F-16 research aircraft. The flight test program was conducted at Dryden Flight Research center (Edwards AFB). My role was to develop flight control and guidance algorithms as well as analysis of flight test data. My work culminated in the creation of a digital terrain database terrain following system for the F-16.
