About Douglas Erickson

I view myself first and foremost as a problem-solver. I routinely negotiate and draft contracts, but also engage in litigation at all levels. In many instances where parties are in conflict, there may be solutions that are quicker and less costly, both in terms of legal fees and the clients' use of resources, than litigation. Usually, such alternatives should be explored both before a lawsuit is filed and periodically over the course of litigation to ensure that opportunities for resolution are recognized if they exist, and if appropriate, those opportunities are taken. Some cases, however, require aggressive representation to protect a client's rights and interests, and compromise is not an option. That must be the client's decision after being fully advised about the law as it applies to the relevant facts.Since 2021, I have served as adjunct faculty at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, providing instruction in contract law, business relations, and professional responsibility (ethics). And, since 2002, I have worked as a hearing officer for various government entities for employment, discipline, and regulatory matters.
