Doug Larson is a civil engineer who has worked on the investigation and cleanup of hazardous waste sites since 1985. He has designed and managed the implementation of a wide variety of remedial solutions to restore contaminated properties to productive reuse and to protect groundwater resources. Many of his projects address emerging or recalcitrant compounds such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), radionuclides and chlorinated solvents. He has been the technical lead on projects involving litigation support, financial risk analysis, and regulatory negotiation. Doug is frequently consulted on Brownfield projects and projects involving environmental liability transfers. He has taught at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, is an instructor for the Princeton Groundwater Remediation and Hydrology Courses, and lectures on remediation topics at other short courses and conferences.Doug manages Geosyntec's Multinational Operations, which has a combined staff of over 600 engineers and scientists in eight countries. He served on Geosyntec’s Board of Directors for four years, including one term as Corporate Secretary, and is currently a member of Geosyntec’s Executive Committee.Doug is also actively involved in volunteer projects that incorporate his civil engineering and construction management skills. These have included water supply and school construction projects with coworkers in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Liberia, and home reconstruction projects with several teams of high school students in the Appalachia region of the United States.
