My law practice is focused on complex maritime transactions and litigation. I have 30 years' experience advising clients on a wide range maritime law topics, including charterparty negotiation and drafting, arbitration, vessel purchase and sale, financing, registration and flagging, Jones Act, personal injury and property damage, limitation of liability, marine insurance coverage and defense, pollution, onboard investigations, navigational error, stevedoring accidents, cargo defense, and general average. Previous to my law practice, I worked as a master mariner licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard. Having worked in offshore construction for many years, I am now deeply involved in the burgeoning U.S. offshore wind industry.I am a proctor in admiralty with the Maritime Law Association of the United States, and I am actively involved with the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute having been a speaker, member of the Board of Directors, chairman of the Long-Range Planning Committee, treasurer, editor, and editor-in-chief. I am a certified arbitrator and former chairman and member of the Board of Directors for the Houston Maritime Arbitrators Association.
