My first career started as an engineer in California's Silicon Valley making semiconductor computer chips and related equipment. Over time I moved into engineering management and then into international high-tech business development, working and living in Korea, Japan, and Israel for long periods of time, and visiting semiconductor manufacturers in pretty much every other country in the world where computer chips are made. Thanks to that work going very well, I was able to retire at an early age from the high-tech industry (back in 2003) and then steer my life in a different direction. My second career was as a teacher of engineering and physics at an "early college high school" back in my native state of Utah. This allowed me to spend nine months of each year giving back to the community by teaching subjects that I love, helping young people prepare to become the world's future leaders. A very nice perk of this second career is that I was able to spend the other three months of each year out on the oceans sailing and scuba diving, or else up in the mountains hiking and four wheeling. In 2024 I retired from that second career in order to spend even more of my time doing the outdoor activities that I love. I'm also still teaching... I'm just not doing that teaching full-time in a school any more. I now volunteer part time, tutoring students who weren't able to get a normal education due to having difficult life circumstances.
