Dr Christopher Johnson is a passionate leader with a proven track record in rail innovation and technology management. As the Engineering Director, he is responsible for the strategic program development and delivery of Park Signalling Ltd’s (PSL) corporate plan. Leading a team of 30 specialist signalling engineers, project managers and operational staff he has doubled PSL's contracted project portfolio securing continued growth and success year on year.As a recognised project manager (APM-PMQ, SCQF Level 7) through successful delivery of projects and programmes, he has a proven competency as a Contract Responsible Engineer (CRE), and Project Engineer for safety-related products. He has also delivered successful projects in intelligent, adaptable, multi-functional and maintainable embedded systems for water treatment, oil and gas, health care, novel security applications and applied vision technologies for the rail and automotive industries.Previously he operated as a programme manager in Industry 4.0 at Manchester Metropolitan University and has a distinguished track record in delivering impact through Industrial Partnerships. His work has covered:- Resilience Modelling of Transport Systems using innovative approaches in Machine Vision, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.- International Frameworks for Knowledge Transfer in Disruptive Technologies.- Embedding I4.0 foundations in SMEs in the North West.Working closely with the rail supply industry Dr Johnson's background work has included synergistic, adaptive prognostic monitoring of rail assets, bespoke image analysis techniques in the classification of surface-born rail defects and pioneering the use of adaptive learning techniques in the analysis of rail vehicle and track components.
