As a Senior Administrator, I am responsible for leadership within the district's Office of Professional Learning that supports the 10k+ certified instructional employees. Current work includes direct supervision of instructional team that focuses on Adult Learning, Social & Emotional Learning Support, and Video learning services. Extended leadership work includes leadership and continual involvement in the district's employee training software system, district LMS used for Professional Learning, and extended support for departments and schools throughout the district.

As a professional learning specialist. My duties consist of providing and facilitating professional learning to support district and/or school initiatives, including a focus on school improvement. Specifically, I have been charged with supporting the development and support of Professional Learning Teams in the district as well as providing schools and teams with on-going coaching. I rely upon both quantitative and qualitative data to guide my work supporting PLTs and determine approaches for development of professional learning. I lead sessions and consult directly with employees to include: teachers, school-based administrators, and district administrators.

Phase I WorkAs a Secondary English Language Arts Instructional Coach, I worked onsite in Halifax County to assist my assigned school with making improvements to their instructional practices. I primarily worked to model, co-teach, and co-plan with the English II teachers. I was also responsible for assisting the ELA team with improving their use of data and implementation of assessments. I provided professional development training to staff to include: implementation of Google Docs Suite; use of Pearson Homebase: Power Teacher and Schoolnet; data retrieval and use from EVAAS, and other applicable teaching, learning and assessment tools. I spent time providing guidance toward improving lesson planning; moreover, I co-created a full course pacing guide with all lesson plans, mini-lessons, resources, activities and assessments for English II teachers across the district. I regularly collaborated with the school, district, and state team members to help the Halifax County school district reach its goals.Phase II WorkAs a Secondary English Language Arts Instructional Coach, I provided service and support to low-performing schools and districts in eastern North Carolina. I provided services to include: lesson modeling, co-teaching, and co-planning with teachers. A portion of my time was devoted directly to supporting improved implementation of the district's curriculum within their ELA courses. Additionally I facilitated professional learning at the school, district and state level on a myriad of topics. My work was dependent upon not only my attention to the needs of schools served, but also my ability to research and cull applicable data from all available sources. Due to the status of schools served, all work was intentional and geared toward school and/or district improvement.

As an instructor for Upward Bound, I have taught a variety of English curriculum based courses. I have also taught courses to include Public Speaking and Reading. While working with Upward Bound, I have been afforded the privilege of mentoring and assisting many first-generation college students with their entry into higher education. In an administrative capacity, I have assisted with the planning of Upward Bound programming for students, as well as directing and guiding staff through joint activities.

As an Instructional Coach for NC New Schools/Breakthrough learning, I was responsible for providing instructional coaching services to school staff within my assigned schools as indicated by their school improvement goals. Instructional Coaching services included but were not limited to: co-planning, modeling, providing lesson plan feedback, and leading whole school professional learning utilizing the NC New Schools/Breakthrough learning framework targeting student preparation for college and careers after high school. Due to the variance of schools and districts, my work required careful tailoring of services to best suit the needs of each individual school and teacher. Moreover, I was responsible for serving teachers in all content areas as well as supporting instructional initiatives alongside school administrators.

While working for this division of North Carolina State University, I spent time seeking, identifying, and evaluating pertinent resources for English I & II curriculum. I aligned such resources with the Common Core State Standards for English at grade levels 9 & 10.

Knightdale, Nc

At Knightdale High School I taught core English courses for primarily grades 9 & 10. I also worked as a school wide trainer for the district's differentiation initiative. In that position I coached, observed, and helped other teachers, including those at other schools, develop differentiated lessons for their class. I also served as the PLT leader for English I and later as co-leader for English II. As one of the PLT leaders, I assisted my team as with aligning instruction with the Common Core State standards. Beyond the classroom, I served as one of the class advisors for the class of 2012. Prior to leaving I worked with administration to assist with the delivery of training for the Race to the Top initiative.

As an instructor at Rocky Mount High School my duties included teaching core English courses for grades 9-12. I also taught various elective courses such as Drama I, Mythology, Public Speaking, and Journalism I. My non-instructional duties included Advising for the class of 2008, assisting with events such as Prom, co-teaching with the school's Drama director, working on the school improvement plan, and working with the school's burgeoning news media program.
