Combined with world-class intellectual property in plasmid design, CTI is poised to become a leader in the 21st century pharmaceutical industry.As a consultant for CTI, I worked with their executive leadership to develop and enact corporate strategies to rapidly move nanoparticle gene therapies into clinical trials for rare and orphan diseases.

Assisted in the Division of Medical Genetics during clinic hours with exposure to a vast array of rare and orphan diseases, cancer genetics, current diagnostic tools, treatment strategies, and available therapies.

Led the design and manufacturing of recombinant human glucosamine (N-acetyl)-6-sulfatase as an enzyme replacement therapy for Mucopolysaccharidosis IIID, resulting in the successful completion of a phase I STTR grant and acquisition of a phase II STTR grant valued at over $1.5MM to move the therapy towards clinical scale.

Conducted work centered on the AAA protein p97 and the identification of selective and potent small molecule inhibitors as a potential cancer therapy. Carried out high-throughput screening, analysis of large data sets, and writing of manuscripts for publication. Also managed day-to-day laboratory duties including training of staff, set up and troubleshooting of equipment, and maintenance of protocols and reagents.

Edited and generated sections of several papers for surgeons based on retrospective cohort studies in liver transplantation and oncology, including auditing statistical analyses and addressing reviewer comments.

Assisted in the design, cloning, and QC analysis of vectors for use in compacted DNA nanoparticle gene therapy for Cystic Fibrosis, Parkinson’s disease, ocular diseases, and hemophilia.

Aided in the evaluation of hardware/software (LabVIEW and MATLAB) for wearable clinical devices for Parkinson’s disease, with specific focus on both design and implementation for diagnostic and rehabilitative uses.
