I believe that the learner should always be at the centre of the learning.For the past 8 years as an educator in a mainstream secondary school, I have always strived to keep my students as the guiding compass when designing their learning. Often times, this means levelling up my own competencies to be better equipped at working with learners in a VUCA setting. Before the pandemic hit, I had been experimenting with Differentiated Instruction, which accounts for the diverse needs of learners and how to meet them, and EduScrum, a pedagogical scaffold that adapts the Agile principles and Scrum framework in delivering learning.Through the period of Covid-19, I discovered another passion for EdTech and transferring new learning onto my colleagues as well. As part of the core team that spearheaded the Personal Digital Learning Programme in my school, I was involved in designing training for my colleagues to help them with the new norm of blended and online learning.This eventually led me to pursue my Masters of Arts in Professional Education (MAPE) at NTU-NIE. My post-graduate education journey has been an enriching and fulfilling one, and I have always made every effort to make sure my personal learning has contributed to my work. In fact, my own learning in the MAPE course has been supplanted with three electives from the Masters of Arts in Instructional Design (MAIDT) course to enrich my knowledge of online and blended learning methodologies.Needless to say, I have a strong passion for educating both the young and the young at heart, especially in this new norm where the line between pedagogy and andragogy is becoming increasingly blurry.
