Doug Smith is an independent consultant with twenty years of international experience in social and environmental assessment and reviews, with focus on renewable energy including hydropower.A leading specialist on the Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol, Mr Smith was one of the first assessors to be accredited to provide official Protocol assessments. He has led seven official Protocol assessments and participated in a further thirteen, assessing all Protocol topics, on projects from 3 MW to 14,000 MW.Mr Smith has high familiarity with IFI environmental and social standards, and repeated experience in preparing environmental and social assessments, environmental and social action plans, and due diligence reports. His experience amongst international financial institutions and Equator Banks encompasses the World Bank, IFC, FMO, DEG, Proparco, Citibank, HSBC, and Standard Chartered.
