About Don Mitchell
I am a veteran of the United States Navy where I served as a Hospital Corpsman. I am very active in my community as a lay minister at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral, a volunteer with San Diego Pride, and also with Stonewall Citizens' Patrol. My focus is on safety and security. I believe in good, quality training of security professionals and have worked to become an authorized instructor through the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) in the State of California.I teach the initial Power to Arrest class at no charge. I do this as a community service in order to foster high quality training in the security field. I also give more advanced training in handling difficult people, the laws regarding arrest, search and seizure, and use of force in California (as pertains to private persons), and I also teach First Aid/CPR/AED at various levels.With the formal education (AS) and the studying I do on my own along with four years of paid supervisory experience along with an additional two years of supervising volunteers, I have become a capable leader and trainer.
