Dr. Duc Phan is an innovative and proactive environmental engineer scientist with more than 15 years of experience in environmental engineering and molecular microbiology specializing in environmental investigation, water/wastewater treatment, water quality monitoring, biofiltration for wasted gas and water treatment, renewable energy from algae that grown from wastewater, nano technology, and fate and transport emerging contaminants in the environment. He has expertise on advanced wastewater treatment such as nitrification/ denitrification and anammox/ partial denitrification, anaerobic digestion, membrane technology, and using molecular microbiology techniques such as RT-qPCR, droplet digital PCR, and sequencing to investigate the impact of emerging contaminants to the microbial community in environment. In this area, he has developed multiple approaches to investigate the impact of nanomaterials that being used in industries and common life to the environmental microbial community in wastewater treatment processes.
