My research area focuses towards the realisation of technologies to enable Trustworthy Communication. I am currently coordinator of BroadEU.Net which works with European governments to prepare the ground for the EU Critical Communication System (EUCCS). This follows the success of BroadWay, a pre-commerical procurement programme jointly procuring innovative solutions to solve the challenge of pan-European mobile broadband for Public Safety.With increasing concerns surrounding the security and resilience of information systems, we are concerned with making sure that information is kept under our control and that communication technology can be relied upon.My research background maintains a leading edge capability in Cyber Security and Resilient Communications which are the core fundamental factors required to achieve Trustworthy Communication. Innovation activity is grouped into the following:• Protection of Critical Infrastructure• Protection of People - Safety, Identity, Privacy and Trust• Resilient Wired and Wireless CommunicationI maintain a strong involvement in EC Framework Programmes and 5G Testbeds and OpenRAN programmes funded by UK Department of science, Industry and Technology (DSIT). I focus research activity to cover both physical layers of a communication system.1) Human <=> Technology - User interaction where information presented is trustworthy, under our control and optimised for human cognition and effective decision makingand2) Technology <=> Technology - Wired and Wireless RF, resilient protocols, Quality of Service, effective application of crypto and secure management protocols.The 2 selected publications given below illustrate both a technology perspective and a human perspective.
