About Dylan Johnston

I am a deeply passionate person in everything I do; from studying natural science to climbing or playing music. My current career goal is to take the interpersonal and leadership skills I learned during my time working for the Colorado Outward Bound School and combine them with my environmental science background and newfound skills as a sustainability MBA.I graduated from the Colorado State University Impact MBA program this December of 2021. The Impact MBA combines traditional MBA curriculum with coursework in natural science and ESG practices to create well rounded, mission driven professionals. It gave me strong skills in strong skills in life cycle analysis, and greenhouse gas accounting, as well as exposure to natural climate solutions and regenerative agriculture. In addition, I am an ISCEA Certified Supply Chain Analyst, I was awarded CSU’s Graduate Certificate in Carbon Management, and I have a BS in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Sustainable Forestry.• greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting • environmental social governance (ESG) • life cycle analysis (LCA) • supply chain analysis • market analysis • global management • forestry • silvopasture • agroforestry • environmental economicsDuring the summer of 2021 I completed a Fellowship with Leprino Foods Company as part of my MBA curriculum. I created three Excel models and an accompanying report that examined water and energy use in manufacturing processes, elucidating savings of up to $500,000 per year, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing natural gas efficiency. I have strong data manipulation skills and I am comfortable using Excel to make data driven, real world decisions. • data manipulation • data modeling • human machine interface • natural gas efficiency • boiler systems • manufacturing • corporate sustainabilityI have ten years of experience in the outdoor industry, including working as a guide and as a Retail Associate for Patagonia. But most of my time in the outdoor space was with the Colorado Outward Bound School, a nonprofit character-building institution that uses wilderness as a teaching tool. There I led and managed multi week backcountry expeditions on public lands throughout the West, Alaska, and Ecuador. This allowed me to hone my leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills while building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with people from all walks of life.• leadership • team building • facilitation • interpersonal communication • expedition leadership • outdoor education • experiential learning
