My current responsibilities have been to contribute to the development of the UNIFI informatics platform for the processing and presentation of mass spectrometry data within an FDA regulated quality environment. Specific technologies and methodologies used in this role have been:C# 4.5, WCF, WPF with MVVM, C++, TDD, SpecFlow, Oracle.

• Managing a distributed team of developers, testers and a build engineer working within an Agile framework. The team’s core responsibility is to maintain and continuously develop a suite of products, develop new products or custom systems in order to meet the goals of multiple concurrent projects.• Working closely with project teams and management in order to gather requirements and specify acceptance criteria. The nature of Atmos’ software means that requirements may be sometimes highly technical in nature. It is partly my job to act in a business analyst role in order to capture and define the functionality as user stories such that it is suitable for developers and testers to work on. Close contact with project teams continue throughout a project’s lifetime whilst new code is under development and being tested.• Project management of internal development of new products or large feature additions to existing products, involving agile user story writing, resource scheduling, iteration planning, estimation and progress monitoring through the use of Kanban boards. Planning starts with high level story definition and estimation involving the development team and relevant stakeholders. Regular retrospectives are hosted to monitor progress, as are more detailed planning and estimation sessions in order to schedule the development across multiple iterations.• Involved in the creation and evolution of development quality procedures and ensuring those procedures are followed. This includes the use of feature and defect management processes, user story lifecycle management, version control (including managing branching), test plans and manual/automated regression testing (including unit testing).• Reporting to senior management on progress, estimates and planned work. Using metrics in order to refine estimates and monitor quality.• Monitoring the Request/Issue tracker and the automated test system.

• Developing and maintaining the core product suite using C# and Visual Basic .Net 1.1 through to 3.5, WPF, WCF web services, ADO.Net and LINQ. Writing unit tests using NUnit and Moq.• Developing in Visual Basic .Net the next major version of Atmos’ flagship leak detection software. The system incorporated a customizable modular design which allowed project engineers to extend functionality for specific projects without having to expose the core application code, as had previously been the case.• Developing the ‘Data Manager’ module, an OPC DA connection layer with redundancy which can be (and still is) incorporated into other applications to allow them to access pipeline instrumentation data.• Mentoring new developers and providing support.• Received training on ASP.Net 2, Agile development and Agile methodology/project management.

• Implemented a custom batch tracking system for the Walton Weir jet fuel pipeline using Visual Basic .Net. Responsible for producing project specific requirements specifications, FAT procedures and user documentation. Liaised with the customer throughout all stages of the project.• Whilst acting as an unofficial developer I designed and coded the comapny's batch tracking system using Visual Basic .Net and ADO.Net.

Safeline Ltd. (now Mettler Toledo) designs and manufactures industrial metal detectors, principally for the food, textile and pharmaceutical industries. The role of design engineer involved the assessment and application of solutions to a number of electrical and physical design issues. Specific duties included the following:• Designing or modifying integrated circuit boards for the metal detection hardware, including the development of circuitry for the new touchscreen based Man Machine Interface of the new model, the design of a new pre-amp and general maintenance such as obsolete part replacement and component performance assessment.• Hardware and embedded software testing, involving devising test routines based on specifications, writing fault reports for non-conformance, and where necessary producing updated requirements.• Devised the user interface structure and design of the new touchscreen based Man Machine Interface.• Creating mathematical models of various aspects of the metal detection system using MathCad and PSpice.• Assessed and documented health and safety issues with respect to human exposure to electromagnetic radiation, including an investigation into existing legal requirements, a practical investigation of the magnetic field strengths produced by the hardware and some investigation and appliance of simulation software.• Experience with AutoCad.
