Ed Brown is Professor of Global Energy Challenges in the Scool of Social Sciences at Loughborough University. Following doctoral research in Nicaragua during the late 1980s, for many years he continued to base much of his empirical research in Latin America, with work there focusing on issues such as governance reforms, anti-corruption activities and the impacts of financial globalization, His main recent research activity, however, has been in the area of low carbon transitions and renewable energy technologies within the global south.. He has been heavily involved in the establishment of the UK Low Carbon Energy for Development Network (LCEDN) which he co-coordinates on behalf of Loughborough along with colleagues from the Durham Energy Institute. He is currently leading a range of research and networking projects funded by UK Research Councils and the UK Department for International Development including a new Multi-Million project focusing on Modern Energy Cooking Services
