The Last Patrol is a Veteran's nonprofit focusing on taking in-country Vietnam Veterans to the Vietnam Memorial "The Wall" in Washington D.C. A Veterans Administration study found that Vietnam Veterans who visit The Wall improves their PTSD conditions. We raise funds to pay for all expenses for the Veteran. Round trip airfare, two night stay, and meals. Vietnam Veterans only, no spouses, family, friends,etc. Each vet will be afforded a personal guide traveling with him from beginning to end of trip.

Researching genealogy, military, school, employment records and conducting interviews for a narrative of my life history. At 18 the door to life opened. At 19, I passed through that door armed only with a high school education, barrio enlightenment, and the curiosity, excitement and energy of a young colt. While many Latinos emerged from the barrio, all of us took different avenues to arrive where we are today. My story is essentially written by a Latino from the barrio perspective. A veteran is someone who at one point in his/her life, wrote a blank check, made payable to the United States of America for an amount of 'up to and including his/her life. That is honor! Good people sleep peacefully at night only because men & women stand ready to die on their behalf My Vietnam combat experience will be dedicate to all those veterans who have ever been ordered "to fix bayonets". It is an indescribable feeling knowing that you will be that close to your enemy. You quickly learn, get busy killing or get busy dying. In this era of smart bomb and hi-tech weapons, unfortunately, gadgets will never replace "guts". Courage and heroism are a by-product of guts. It's not planned....it just happens. Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die.How did my extreme modest Latino environment and culture up-brining influence my personal relationships and my professional career? Add the dynamic of being wounded in my 7th month of combat tour experience certainly made it interesting, entertaining, and humorous. My 10 yrs. at AT&T in Dallas & Los Angeles, 10 yrs. in law enforcement, marriage out side my culture, 10 yrs. in nonprofit working with homeless, 6 yrs. as an international business owner, 10 yrs. in a university administration environment, and launching and producing a business talk-radio program in the 6th largest media market as well as other numerous life experience.

Recruited Women & Minority owned businesses to conduct business with the University. Assisted vendors with navigating the procurement and bid process as well as helping complete documentation for submitting application for HUB Certifications to the State. Informed them of numerous other Minority & Women certifications they could also submit an application. Abided:State of Texas, Texas Administrative Code, Title 34, Part 1, Chapter 20, Subchapter B;Texas Government Code, Chapter 2161; State of Texas Vendor Guide: Centralized Master Bidders List, Methods of Procurement, Procurement Cycle, Solicitation Process, Receipt of Bids, Evaluation and Awards, Contract Administration and Payments;Surpassed state goals. In 2010 & 2011, led UNT to rankings of two & three respectively, in the Top 25 Agencies Spending More Than 25 million with the Largest HUB Spending Percentages. Utilizing Microsoft Office Word and Excel, kept records and generated reports as required by the State and University of North Texas System Administration. Kept HUB Program in a perpetual audit ready posture. Customized process improvements for reporting of HUB program's policies and procedures. Composed 5 year strategic plan, submitted and approved by Board of Regents. Responsibilities included representing UNT at a substantial number of trade shows and procurement fairs. Networked with and utilizing Power Point, made presentations to most of the 50 north Texas Chambers including 20 Hispanic, 6 African-American, 2 Asian, 1 Native American, 1 Veterans, 1 Female, 1 Christian and 1 Gay/Lesbian. Equally, networked with a vast number of organizations & associations established either by trade, industry, ethnicity, or gender. Increased the number of vendors used by the University of North Texas System to 19,000 on a daily basis.Cultivated and maintained a multitude of warm professional relationships with community, business, & corporate leaders, as well as elected & appointed officials.

There were very few "firsts" left in talk radio but identified a niche. The Latino Business Hour w/Eddie Reyes is about improving & enriching the quality of life for women, veterans, minority and small business owners. It accomplish its mission by disseminating current, timely & relevant information as its relates to this communities. While employed full time as Director of Development for R.E.A.C.H. of Dallas, a nonprofit, I also purchased a company----1.an international company,Tropical Soap Company produced an all-natural, 100% pure coconut-oil, bath soap.2.Manufacturing operations in Guadalajara, Mexico, warehousing & distribution in Dallas and corporate offices in Carrollton;3.catapaulted company from a small 5 employee business to 30 employees4.among other major acquisitions, added GNC and Whole Foods companies as customers5.developed international customer base, France, Peru, New Zealand and Australia6.from a pool of 50 nominated local based international companies, recognized by the Greater Dallas Chamber as the first ever International Business Achievement Award recipient for increasing sales by 35% within the first 18 months of ownership;7. Traveled on Trade Missions with Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk and Greater Dallas Chamber Board members to Europe, New Zealand and Australia8.Practiced all facets of operating a business;
