My role at JFK began to transition from marketing to construction. It was supposed to be temporary, but it didn't take long for me to realize I enjoyed the change of pace and learning more about the ins and outs of the industry. I expressed wanting to take on the role of supporting the construction department more permanently, and I was granted the opportunity. My role consisted of assisting the construction manager and superintendent with the management of several ongoing tenant build-outs at once. My duties included, but were certainly not limited to, managing the project budgets and job costs, generating status reports, facilitating team meetings, applying for permits, corresponding with subcontractors, implementing approved change orders, and managing project knowledge and information on the project management software. After joining the team, I collaborated with other JFK team members on how to improve construction processes and procedures, which resulted in the creation of several standard forms and templates to be used for each project, all of which could be tailored to fit the needs of each job. Excelling in this position is what inspired me to earn my PMP certification, allowing me to formally learn project management best practices and put them to use in my current and future roles.

JFK Investment Company, LLC is a commercial real estate and development company that owns, manages, and continuously develops several office buildings, while taking care of and meeting the needs of their many tenants. I was brought onto the team to take the lead in the re-branding of the company image. I did so by creating new marketing materials, and establishing a stronger online presence with a new website and sending out email marketing campaigns to targeted audiences. My marketing efforts expanded to working with their affiliated ski resort entities by creating promotional event material and social media content for their pages, and working closely with developers to redo the resort websites. I routinely worked with the Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems, email marketing services, and several social media platforms in order to perform all of my marketing tasks.

Townsquare Media - Flint is a local radio station that does more than just provide its listeners with the hottest jams. They put on a variety of live events, and also create engaging websites for their clients through Townsquare Interactive. I started out as a Marketing and Live Events intern and reported directly to the Live Events coordinator. During my time interning I was able to be a part of the planning and execution of several different events, do various forms of event marketing, set up live broadcasts at remotes, and so much more. Following the internship I received a job offer to co-host a morning show where I got to market local businesses each day, and served as the administrative assistant while off-air.

Applebee's Neighborhood Bar & Grill is a popular family friendly chain restaurant where I served up excellence for five years. It is a placed beloved by many for their daily lunch specials and half off apps at night. My duties included serving guests and anticipating their needs throughout their entire visit to guarantee a highly satisfactory dining experience. In order to ensure every guest left happy, I had to make effective use of time management, communication, and team work skills. Serving at the Bee's taught me how to deal with many different types of customers and how to keep calm during highly stressful situations. As a bonus from my time there, I became an expert at rolling silverware.
