I am a journalist, editor and researcher, having gathered and prepared information for publication for most of my life. I am one of few journalists who has worked full time at newspapers, magazines, in corporate media relations, in online news (including video and podcasts), and in my own publications business.I am also one of few journalists who has worked in three diverse sectors: information technology (since 1995), NCAA basketball (since 1977) and entertainment (as a daily newspaper Lifestyle section editor and television critic for five years). My work has appeared in numerous publications. I was Editor-in-Chief of eWEEK for 11 years, where I oversaw all our enterprise IT coverage. Previously I served as Editor of Features & Analysis and Senior Editor, covering IT sectors that included the data center, data storage/recovery, virtualization and green IT. I have published more than 5,000 articles and blog posts on eWEEK's Web site and in its magazine. Previously, my work has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Daily News, San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Examiner, Orlando Sentinel, Dr. Dobbs' Journal, and SD Times, and on sites such as TechWeek Europe, PC Magazine, Baseline, C/net News.com and TechRepublic. In 2017 and 2018, I was named among the 250 most influential business journalists in the world (No. 65) by Richtopia, a research firm that used analytics to compile the ranking. https://richtopia.com/inspirational-people/top-250-business-journalists.Before I began researching/writing about IT, I was an editor/columnist with the Peninsula Times Tribune (Palo Alto, Calif.), Editor-in-Chief of the Cupertino Courier, and a sportswriter with the Los Angeles Daily News.
