I've been involved in Commercial Archaeology in the UK since 2001 after moving to the UK after graduating from the University of Auckland with Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.I initially started out as a site assistant working on a range of sites, from the Mesolithic through to the post medieval periods, across the UK. This included taking part in the excavation of a Roman Bathhouse at Shadwell, East London, the excavation of Romano-Celtic temples at Southwark, South London and excavation of the Whitefriars monastic site in Canterbury.After moving to Edinburgh to join Headland Archaeology initially as a supervisor, then project officer and finally to my current role as Project Manager. Where I a manage archaeological projects from tendering stage right through to full publicationAs a Project Manager I’ve has been involved in large scale fieldwork projects in many industries including roads, wind farms, quarries and property. This includes the excavation of a Mesolithic House at South Queensferry, a Prehistoric Settlement and Iron Working site in North Kessock, the excavation of the Blackfriars monastic site in Edinburgh and an Iron Age Settlement near Newcastle.In recent years I have also taken on the responsibility of Health and Safety manager at Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd, ensuring that the company meets the stringent Health and Safety requirements of a construction related industry. In order to assist with this role I have recently completed an NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
