In my second AmeriCorps term, I worked as a classroom assistant for a GED class aimed at students aged 16-24. My role involved making connections with students and coming up with solutions to any roadblocks they may face in achieving their goal of graduating from our program.

As an AmeriCorps member, I committed to a ten-month term of service with the disaster relief non-profit; SBP. My role as a Project Lead was to be in charge of volunteers and to lead them through various stages of construction on our many houses in development.

My responsibilities were to take and translate bets from customers and answer any betting-related questions they may have. Also to maintain the overall atmosphere of the shop by looking out for and dealing with any problematic customers.

For the last few months of Beto O’Rourke’s senate campaign in 2018, many pop-up offices opened up around the state. As manager of one, I was responsible for all the volunteers that operated in the area. I would keep records of volunteer turnout, schedule people for shifts, and when necessary, train people in how to use the phone bank and block walk.

As a member of the Gamma Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Omega at Texas Christian University, I was required to perform 25 hours of community service every semester as well as attend weekly meetings. I was also elected to the executive committee twice, once as the Fellowship Chair and once as the Pledge Trainer.

Role included planning and running coaching sessions at various ‘soccer schools’ around London. I would be responsible for up to thirty children at any one time, with age groups ranging from six to fifteen depending on the session.
