Building a big-data energy analytics pipeline and application for one of Workbridge's clients using Python, PostgreSQL, Amazon Glue, Spark, Airflow, and Amazon Lambdas.

Worked as a developer on a financial data processing application using Python, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Javascript, and some React. Lots of Continuous Integration. Methodology was SCRUM, with tickets, 2-week sprints. Small team (Roughly 12 people). All onsite, then all remote work during the pandemic.

We initially were somewhere in the middle of the pack, but we now have the best college admissions tools in the industry. I managed up to 12 people at various times, and more for special projects. I worked on developing new service offerings for our clients related to DevOps, enterprise social solutions, content management, cloud computing, APIs, and lightweight development processes. I oversaw two product development efforts for social solutions, both based on open source technology such as Elgg, PHP, Javascript, and MySQL. I was also charged with improving the technical abilities of hundreds of engineers, more than half of whom were in India. To do that, I created new online communities of practice, created and ran two successful global hackathons, managed an innovation competition, and delivered a variety of webinars on key technologies. I also continued to help our clients understand new technology. I wrote white papers, including, one in 2013 on web-based development with platforms-as-a-service, and another in 2014 on the value of hackathons for organizations. I was a programmer for a defense contractor who built ships for the US Navy. I worked on large Informix databases that were used for ship design, graphical tools using X-Windows, and scripts to run naval simulations. The programming languages I used were Java and C.
