Fuel Cell Research Centre

Working on designs for catalytic metal-foam monoliths with applications in fuel reforming, pollution control and chemical production. Particularly interested in material/manufacturing issues for coupling reaction kinetics (i.e. catalyst loading), heat and mass transfer for optimal thermodynamic efficiency in non-isothermal chemical processes that optimize waste-heat recovery.

Edward Thomas Training Company develops numeracy training materials in two areas: 1) for journalism students, working media professionals and public relations officers and 2) for children ages 7-11 with an emphasis on introductory advanced concepts in mathematics and applied logic.

Department Of Chemistry

Worked as an NSERC research scholar under supervision of Dr. Gregory Jerkiewicz. Used charge-density spectroscopy to characterize corrosion and catalytic processes on nickel and platinum systems. Used Laue x-ray photography to identify and recover made-to-order crystalline surfaces for research. Conducted undergraduate thesis research on surface phenomena using mass balance spectroscopy.

Faculty Of Applied Science

Worked under supervision of faculty's special projects officer to develop interdisciplinary curriculum for new engineering facilities.

New Brunswick Telegraph-Journal

Managed the business section for New Brunswick's daily newspaper of record. Led a team of a dozen reporters, editors and freelancers to produce daily eight-page newspaper sections, quarterly magazines and monthly feature sections. Took an active role in planning and execution of merger between the Telegraph and the Saint John Times-Globe, in 2001. Wrote a weekly byline column on economics, business and technology.

Promoted in 1998 to have responsibilities for copy editing, page design, press proofing and weekend newsroom supervision. Worked with managing editor and publisher to boost Saturday-Sunday circulation with improved point of sale marketing. Won 1998 Ontario News Award for design.
