Supervised engineering works to construct a large water intake structure within and adjacent to a SSSI and SAC designated watercourse.• Responsible for ensuring project compliance with environmental legislation, contract documents, HSQE plan and environmental control plan as well as ensuring best practice implemented at all times.• Experience in designing temporary pollution prevention and control measures, water treatment, dewatering and erosion control systems at site level, such as “sparging” areas to allow sedimentation of turbid water and coir mesh installation to prevent bankside erosion and run-off. I ensured inclusion of environmental controls when forward planning and producing risk assessments and method statements.• Undertaking daily environmental audits to identify non-conformance and ensuring preventive measures are implemented.
