I am involved in development of a software solution for automating the lifecycle of data centers network operations - AOS (Apstra Operating System) - as a backend engineer. Initiatives I worked on include:* Reworking the representation of a data center topology in the User Intent, allowing more flexible specifications and extending the set of supported use-cases.* Adding API for configuring external connectivity points for a datacenter, allowing architects to configure BGP peering with external routers in VRFs in multiple ways, customizing external routing policies utilizing prefix-lists, complex route-maps.* Assessing performance and scalability of the backend and introducing various optimizations, such as adding caching, improving the efficiency of data processing reactors, refactoring platform agents.

I was a part of the NFV/Networking team that is focused on delivering and supporting networking features in the company’s product, including various SDN solutions for OpenStack as well as NFV functionality.I worked on the VNF Onboarding project which, being part of MCP Drivetrain, aims to provide customers a framework to deploy and validate various VNFs (Virtual Network Functions) in a unified way using Jenkins pipelines thus decreasing time required for their onboarding. The framework is using Cloudify as an NFV MANO implementation and OpenStack as a VIM.

My responsibilities include developing features, improving existing ones, bug fixing, hardening and performance and scale testing of OpenStack Neutron. I have experience with low-level networking and hardware features such as hardware offloads.Activities:* For the last four months I have been working on hardening and implementing new features in the Networking components of Fuel-CCP (Containerized Control Plane, running on Kubernetes).My recent contributions include containerizing OpenDaylight controller and integrating it with Neutron.* Participated in testing of Mirantis OpenStack 9.0 at scale with focus on the Neutron component. My role was to participate in designing of test plans, implement test scenarios and auxiliary utilities, run tests, collect, analyze and document the results.* Performed a comparative performance analysis of various hardware offloads (Tx checksumming, TSO, GSO, Tx UDP tunneling segmentation, Rx checksumming, GRO). The research examines differences in throughput as well as the effect on CPU utilization when these hardware offloads are enabled.

OpenStack Neutron developer* Performed testing of ZeroMQ backend for oslo.messaging library, fixed issues found in the oslo.messaging driver and DevStack installation scripts. Published a blogpost with tutorial on setting up DevStack with ZeroMQ.* Led the effort of the oslo.service library graduation from oslo-incubator and its adoption in OpenStack projects. Improved the library's features, documentation and test coverage. Currently I am a member of its core team.
