I compiled developmental and statistical information to be used as evidence in renewing an educational grant from the Department of Education. The main objective of the internship was preparing this grant, while there were some secondary jobs that popped up throughout the semester.A major assignment was writing and designing content and aesthetic elements for the future departmental (Middle East and Northern Africa) website. This website would give students (and faculty) access to developmental programs and seminars, leading them to scholarships, internships, and jobs (through a web-portal into the CSU Career Center). I pushed for full connectivity with both the Career Center as well as the Morgan Library, allowing students full access to the resources they needed. One major change towards the end was implementing secondary links to different Arabic schools in Morocco and Egypt as destinations for cultural immersion.Marketing was a large aspect of this internship, as the amount for a grant was dependent on the increases in enrollment. I managed marketing drives; hanging posters and flyers around campus while also emailing those students that would be interested in events related to MENA. I fine tuned my marketing strategy at the end to only target those undeclared students and/or language majors, as opposed to trying for broad audience.

This was a private fire mitigation company. I wielded awesome power tools such as chain-saws, pole-saws, and brush cutters to lay waste to dry and fire-prone ground cover. In effect, we created defensible space around structures for firefighters to work from (in the event of a wildfire). The trees we cut were usually dead logs and overhanging branches that would allow fires to move up to the canopy.Using razor sharp efficiency, we then rushed this debris woodchipper to be turned to mulch for whatever the clients wanted. We left with leaving barely a shred of evidence to our arboreal escapades.Overall, very adventurous and high-action work with colorful characters that taught me colloquial Spanish. Becoming more proficient in a language is always a plus.

Started out full-time, then moved to part -time before being relegated to intermittent contract work for this startup printing company. My duties started out with filling and keeping track of the supply inventory of paper and ink. I then graduated to operating and maintaining the machinery which included the Indigo press, paper cutters, and staple-gun machine. I occasionally did some graphic design work, picking up nifty little tricks on Photoshop and InDesign.Another very useful task I performed since the beginning included proofing all printed materials and certain marketing correspondences. These printed materials included posters, pamphlets, newsletters, event programs etc.
