Immediately after my graduation from Benedictine College in 2013, I began working for a Wedding and Event Coordinating company in Phoenix, Arizona. After only four months, I was promoted from an assistant to a lead planner and designer, where my job took me all over the state coordinating every tiny detail for my clients and their events. My job consisted of helping clients find and contract vendors both within their allotted budget but also fulfilling their hopes in style and design. I worked closely with venues and rental companies to create layout plans that worked both aesthetically and efficiently. And for every event I created an in-depth timeline that would account for every single vendor, assistant, bridal party member and guest – where they would be at all times and what they should be doing. When the opportunity arrived that I could continue working events, while also working for Benedictine College, I jumped at the chance. God has blessed me with the opportunity not only to work in my field, but to work for a Catholic institution that is making a positive difference in the world. I believe in Benedictine College, the mission and values. Through the past seven years as the Events Coordinator, I have been able to redefine the level of professionalism in this position and set a new standard. I have established good working relationships with Benedictine employees, vendors, our regular and new clients that host their conferences and events on campus. I have worked on implementing Blackout Dates so the College takes appropriate priority with events, and I am still making the push to have four years of a master calendar posted at a time. My goal is to continue to improve the communication and efficiency that is needed to make Benedictine College have successful events on every level. I have always jumped at any opportunity to work events as early as high school and getting trained in the industry. One highlight of my career was assisting the day-of coordinating of the 2015 XLIX Super Bowl Pepsi Halftime Show. I worked with the head event director in orchestrating the 1,000 dance volunteers that participated in the show. I also had the opportunity to work behind the scenes at Disneyland during college breaks. I have an in-depth understanding of the work it takes to put on a successful event, and I work very well under pressure and know how to find solutions quickly.
