I have owned and operated three (3) franchises of Lawn Doctor in the Greater New Haven area with my husband Gerry since 1997. I formerly was the full time operations manager, Controller, and customer service supervisor until December 2009. At that time I chose to leave the full time managing of the business to Gerry. With all the proper staff in place, my husband was ready to manage the business without me. I was able to find an accounting position at Sacred Heart University that utilizes my skills. During the busier times of the year I would still be quite active but only on a part time basis. In December 2013 we sold all 3 franchises. We no longer operate as Lawn Doctor.

Controller for closely held partnerships. I was responsible for the daily accounting, payroll and all taxes (1065, 1120S, 941, etc.). Some aspects of my position required my working from the NYC accounting office of the principal who also happened to be the managing partner of the accounting firm of Edward Isaacs & Company.

I began my accounting career at Laventhol & Horwath (now known as Dworken, Hillman, LaMorte & Sterczala P.C in Shelton) as a staff accountant. Not only did I work my way up to Senior accountant but I also was heavily involved with recruiting. This firm was known to take on clients that were small to medium size. It was for this reason that I was able to handle all aspects of the client from audit to financial statement to tax return. Some supervision of staff was needed on certain jobs but it was a great experience to see the entire scope of a client.
