Elizabeth's primary tasks are independent writing and the ecological interpretation of data analyses for both management and research documents. Elizabeth has recently written Bird and Bat Conservation Strategies, Eagle Conservation Plans, and white papers that range in topic from avian and bat radar studies to the implication of ecological differences in modelling collision risk for eagles. She has also been involved in writing, reviewing, and editing technical reports and developing strategies to effectively guide clients through state and federal wildlife regulations and guidelines.

Elizabeth's primary duties include management of more than two dozen wind-wildlife projects in various stages of development. The projects Elizabeth is involved with, whether managing or supporting, include baseline pre-construction surveys, post-construction monitoring (PCM), improvement of PCM field methodology, take avoidance and minimization research, and habitat conservation plan development. Much of Elizabeth's current research is focused on understanding patterns of bat and eagle fatalities at wind energy facilities in an effort to provide innovative solutions to maximize renewable energy output while minimizing adverse impacts to species of conservation concern. Ms. Baumgartner is fortunate to work in close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams that include WEST colleagues, industry and agency personnel, and NGO personnel whose combined experience maximizes the capacity of each entity alone.
