I represented defendants in asbestos and talc litigation in Pacific NW litigation from the answer through settlement negotiations, including investigation and fact development, discovery and depositions, and dispositive motions. Serving on the national counsel team that managed litigation for certain clients across the entire country, I managed retention of panel experts, responded to written discovery and corporate representative deposition notices, and used my unique network to locate witnesses and uncover relevant facts.

During my time at the club I was the only staff member to teach for both the Mind-Body and Group Exercise departments. Responsibilities included planning and teaching a mixed-level Sunrise Yoga rooted in anatomy and kinesiology with an emphasis on adaptation to personal student needs; planning and teaching beginner/intermediate and advanced practice Sunday classes as part of a scheduled rotation, introducing more athletic style of practice and more difficult standing and inverted postures; and substitute teaching for yoga and barre-based classes. I also taught Group Exercise classes on an as-needed basis. Represented manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and property owners in sophisticated products liability defense litigation.Developed facts and documents leading to dismissal prior to oral argument on motions in limine for a California case with a demand of $1.5 million; played a key role in the development of defense strategy for the same client that led to an in-trial dismissal for a federal case with a pre-opening demand of $1.7 million. Aggressively pursued medical defense in a disputed mesothelioma case that drove settlement down from a demand in the millions to a four-figure settlement. Litigation duties included case preparation from initial intake through summary judgment or dismissal. This included development of case-specific discovery and litigation strategies and medical analysis (including but not limited to reviewing medical treatment records and evaluating co-morbidities, alternate causation, and relevant health risks); taking and defending depositions of parties, non-party lay witnesses, corporate representatives, and experts (literally hundreds of depositions, including lead on straight-forward fact depositions and highly-technical internationally-known medical and industrial hygiene experts); appearing in court for hearings, oral argument, and trials; and researching and writing pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents. Other job duties included presenting litigation analysis of high-risk cases at client-carrier round table discussions, and developing new attorney education resources on procedural quirks of asbestos litigation, substantive rulings, case management, and background knowledge (for example, created a basic guide to understanding immunohistochemical testing results). Non-duties include instigating firm community service projects and health and fitness activities; served as translator during the 2012 firm service trip to build smokeless stoves in rural Guatemala.

Taught comprehensive preparation courses for the Law School Admissions Test including elements of formal logic, logical reasoning, logical fallacies, and logic diagrams; taught both full-length and weekend intensive course formats. Received frequent commendations from students, including at least one student with a 45-point score increase from pre-test to final LSAT. Most-requested instructor for student helpline. Th Rosen Law Firm was a litigation firm focused almost exclusively on aviation and aviation-related products liability.Researched, wrote, and argued motion outlining application of Oregon’s choice-of-law principles (which do not follow The Restatement) in a federal suit arising from a Canadian float plane crash; the resulting ruling led to an immediate settlement under policy limits for our client (the defendant in this action). Reviewed contracts for fixed-base operators and the airport development authority in light of revisions to the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and made recommendations for compliance. Deposed defendant rotorcraft pilot on case-specific application of FAR to his actions, resulting in extremely favorable settlement for our client (the plaintiff in this action). Researched and updated paper for legal ethics CLE “Movie Magic: How the Masters Try Cases” (including individual state rules of professional responsibility, ABA Model Code and comments, and ABA Ethics 2000). Edited work by other attorneys.
