Volunteer as a RN for various clinics: pediatric, adult, women’s health, etc. Room patients, take vitals, gather the initial HPI/reason for visit, and assist to obtain needed medical records while communicating with the provider.

Volunteer at the Downtown Life Center location four hours weekly. Currently in active shadowing training. Meet with clients to ascertain practical needs for their children (diapers, clothes, wipes, etc) while also connecting with our clients to provide practical guidance related to healthy relationships, abstinence, and pregnancy. Connect clients to identified community resources. Currently shadow in pregnancy test appointments, which includes guiding clients through a self-administered pregnancy test, directing clients to healthcare/doctors, and discussing pro-life options for unplanned pregnancies.

Performed the role of Registered Nurse for two physicians in the practice in both laryngology and head/neck surgery. Triaged patients, educated on certain surgeries (before and after surgery has taken place), and communicated/coordinated patient care with both surgeons, support staff, speech therapist, and the clinic supervisor. Followed up on results, provided patient guidance and reassurance as needed, and covered for other nurses in the practice (covering for rhinology and otology). Trained applicable new/other staff as needed.

Performed the essential functions of a clinic nurse, including (but not limited to) rooming patients, requesting and obtaining records, performing phlebotomy and fulfilling lab orders, performing point-of-care testing (including HCG, Mono, Strep, Flu, blood glucose testing, UA’s, and EKG’s), and medication dispensing/teaching (including breathing treatments and IM injections/immunizations). Provide technical support and troubleshoot customer concerns for the Accu-Chek Consumer Line meters and lancing devices. Implement required documentation and maintain compliance with FDA regulations for charting and reporting. Assist customers with general education on their equipment as well as address advanced customer concerns.

As a Summer Reading/Circulation Clerk, provide customer service, complete circulation duties, answer phones and patrons’ question, check books in/out, register new patrons, and verify cash register amounts.Worked during the summer of 2013 during the IMCPL Summer Reading Program and began again as a Substitute Clerk in July 2014 - present.

Provide/provided elder care and companionship for three different family friends, including basic nursing aid care, outings/activities, and gentle guidance for aging family members.

Tutored nursing students in pediatric nursing (spring 2012) and medical/surgical nursing (spring 2013). Tutored both as a group tutor (3 or more students) and as a TRIO tutor (one-to-one tutoring).

Assisted and/or observed nurse preceptors on the inpatient oncology/palliative care unit and in the adjoining outpatient infusion clinics. Inserted several IVs, accessed/de-accessed several Port-a-Caths, changed a sterile PICC dressing, assisted in infusing blood products, and observed chemotherapy infusions.
