Ellie Armstrong Email and Phone Number
Hello! My name is Ellie Armstrong, and I am a first-year student at Duke University. I am pursuing a double major in Psychology and International Comparative Studies with a concentration in Latin America & the Caribbean. I intend to receive a certificate in Child Policy as well.Currently, I am an intern in the Initial Resettlement Case Management department at World Relief Chicagoland, where I have worked with refugee families during their first three months in the U.S. This experience has taught me the incredible value of cross-cultural communication and cultural humility. On campus, I am working as a Team Leader for Jumpstart, where I have gained professional developmental skills in early childhood education and kindergarten readiness programming. This complements my experiences in high school with working as a camp counselor and group leader for Huntley Park District summer camps, as well as a swim instructor and volleyball coach for local youth programs.I have extensive experience in leading my high school's student newspaper as a three-year editor and two-year Editor in Chief, which taught me valuable interpersonal and public speaking skills. I hope to bring the skills I learned there to my positions as a co-Editor in Chief of Borderless Magazine, a campus tour guide, a Global Fellow, and a cohort member of the Penny Pilgrim George Women's Leadership Initiative.I am passionate about human rights and am seeking experience in non-profits and social innovation.
