Access to nature and engagement with outdoor environments can foster relationships between people, nature, and place and promote well-being. I will graduate August 2024 with a PhD dual degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management and Human Dimensions of Natural Resources and the Environment (RPTM-HDNRE) from The Pennsylvania State University. I am interested in moving the fields of environmental education and outdoor recreation towards health promotion of local and global communities, and to understand the impact of trauma on people's relationships to outdoor environments for learning and leisure.With a BA in environmental studies and an MA in environmental education, I strive to connect people to the outdoors. I have experience working with pre-K to 12th grade students in Montessori and outdoor learning environments. For four years I worked at Conserve School, a semester school working with 10th and 11th grade students in the Northwoods of Wisconsin to expand their understanding of and practice in environmental stewardship. I have developed skills and confidence in written and oral communication, project management, program and curriculum development. I look forward to working for and partnering with organizations that value environmental stewardship and provide opportunities to connect people to nature.
