I am a student currently finishing my BA at College of the Atlantic. I am studying global health and anthropology with interests in biology, zoology, ornithology, GIS, and ecology.In the two years that I was away from College of the Atlantic; I traveled to Nepal where I lived and volunteered at the Alka Hospital in Kathmandu. While volunteering in the hospital, I was also able to follow the physicians on their daily rounds.After I had returned from Nepal, I enrolled in the SOLO School of Wilderness Medicine in Conway New Hampshire. I completed their wilderness EMT program, and I am currently certified as an EMT.After my EMT course, I moved to Brooklyn, New York where I worked as a medical assistant for Housecalls for the Homebound for a year. My job was to drive Internists to patient's houses for emergency and routine examinations where I would perform EKGs often. I also scheduled appointments, did the billing, reviewed the medications our patients were taking, I prepared vaccines and helped out with anything that the doctor neededI left the position in August or 2014 to re-enroll as a student at College of the Atlantic to finish my undergraduate degree. After I finish my BA, I aim to enroll in graduate school to further my studies in global/ public health and medical anthropology.
