The Citi Community Capital group provides a suite of financial products to help affordable housing developers construct, rehabilitate, refinance and acquire multifamily housing across the country. Committed to the communities we serve, CCC finances both straightforward and highly structured transactions for non-profit and for-profit affordable housing developers, Community Development Financial Institutions, and state and local government agencies.

In my new role as principal risk specialist, I am leading the underwriting process team and standing up new approaches to portfolio management. Managing the priorities of our 5 person team, I lead cross functional communication to deliver process improvement, drive efficiencies, and use data to create better results. Directing collaboration with various teams, I have already implemented strategic initiatives for criticized assets, industry risk, and portfolio growth.

As a Commercial Real Estate underwriter, I led communication and due diligence on loan originations through the closing process on multifamily properties (engaging multiple departments and clients to match the business’ risk appetite). During this time I managed a large portfolio of criticized assets of all product types, working with stakeholders on modifications resulting from the pandemic.

As a CRE underwriting analyst, I primarily focused on modeling and valuations, sizing new loans and reworking dated analytical functions. Using a strategic approach to market research, I executed site visits and was able to expand the department’s geographical footprint while mitigating risk. During 2020, I volunteered on the PPP working 16+ hours days as a leader in the loan approval process. I created training materials, set up SWAT teams, and ultimately got every single commercial loan processed.
