I began my work experience at a resident home for elderly people as a server in the retirement home’s restaurant in my hometown, a suburb outside of Philadelphia. This job provided me the basis of working in the restaurant industry while I completed the tasks of a host, waiter, food runner, server and busser simultaneously. Following the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the world, and especially the elderly population, I progressed to begin working in a different restaurant as a hostess. As a host, I developed organizational skills from managing upwards of 50 reservations a day for over 150 people. I advanced to begin working as a member of the food staff at another local restaurant in my hometown. The fast-paced environment of a restaurant allowed me to expand my interpersonal skills such as teamwork with my coworkers, conflict resolution with the guests, and responsibility. I excelled at communication via phone calls, in person conversations with customers and other staff, and written emails. I continue to work at this restaurant when I am home from school.While working part-time in the workforce, I continued to find other avenues to expand my leadership roles. Working as a childcare provider for numerous local families expanded my ability to make safe decisions, actively listen to others, and problem solve. I was awarded a Red Cross Babysitters Certification and my CPR Certification. These awards have solidified my competency as a qualified childcare provider. I continue to support children through volunteer work at my elementary school’s track and field program. Being an athlete my entire life, athletics remains close to my heart and through volunteering as an assistant coach, I enabled other children to stay active as well as fine tuning my own leadership skills. Giving back to the community is important to me, so volunteer work with other causes such as our local food bank have allowed me to make a difference through my actions.After graduating high school in 2022, I have transitioned from a high school student working part-time jobs and participating in extracurriculars to a full-time college student at the University of Pittsburgh in the College of Business Administration. I am majoring in the marketing field of business while getting a certificate in communications. I look forward to combining each of my passions to pursue a career where I can combine my passions for business and writing.
