I am a detail-oriented and dedicated professional with over 16 years of criminal investigative experience, with 7 of those years spent as the Coroner for Central Vancouver Island. Throughout my career, I've investigated scenes and collected evidence from environment and through head-to-toe examination, creating a full narrative to accurately ID the deceased, determine their cause of death, time of death, and precisely what happened. I have been able to perform my role through working on a range of cases of varying complexity, while additionally conducting further analysis when required through maintaining possession of the body if needed. I also partner with cross-functional agencies and peers to propel investigations forward, while presenting data from a multitude of sources into comprehensive reports summarizing my findings. My strong emotional intelligence has also allowed me to interact with the family and next of kin of the deceased tactfully and professionally, delivering the facts of the case when requested to offer closure.
