As a Global Graduate my organizational, multitasking and leadership skills were challenged as I was assigned a role as the Factory Scheduling Manager at the site in Malmö. At a high-pace production site, changes and updates are regular events, and require quick and accurate reactions. Responsibilities included for this role were:- Main responsible for planning and updating the production sequence- Communications with the SNO-team to determine which product were to be run when and if materials were available- Relaying information to the rest of the Scheduling team to ensure local requirements for production were met- Collecting information of when downtime were required for production lines- Compiling and presenting data and results for how the production had preformed on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, for all interested parties, both locally and externally- Planning and organizing a monthly stock count in order to ensure a higher accuracy of waste numbers and stock levels

As a Process Engineer at BAT I have developed my understanding of computerized systems and industrial level technology. By participating in several projects of different kinds, my skills in communication, planning and implementations of changes have greatly developed.Main responsibilities as a Process Engineer were:- Daily updates of factory OEE performance- Monthly updates of several technical KPI:s, e.g. OEE, MTBF, waste etc.- Development of a reliable waste calculation system and analyzing source of main contributors- Implementation of Line Event Data System (ANT) to track production in real time, thus participating in testing the system, report defects found by myself and production staff to supplier for further development and training staff in how to operate the system.- Main responsible for collecting data from several parties in order to prepare monthly production meetings for the local management team

During my thesis I’m studying the impact different operational parameters has on an anaerobic startup of an MBBR process. Some experiences I’ve gained during the project are project planning and development, as I’m one of the major contributors to how the project should evolve. I’ve also gained experience on how to operate and trouble shoot lab-scale anaerobic reactors. By working in a professional lab environment I’ve also gained knowledge on how to practice a good work ethic and analytical studies of high quality.

During my summer work as a process operator at the sugar factory in Arlöv, I have gained and developed a broad knowledge of how an industrial process is operated. Skills such as communication, planning and teamwork were developed as the role was to, together with a team, run and optimise the production of sugar solutions, which were then sold and shipped to other industries. In order to sell the product, several laboratory quality analyses had to be performed so the product could be approved. Thus, a knowledge of foodstuff regulations and quality assurance were gained, and my laboratory skills were developed. Furthermore, by doing some maintenance work in the factory and operating an actual process established a sense of how a factory is run compared to how a theoretical model works.

By guiding younger students in their process of studying an industrial process in the course Life Science Processes and Calculations at LTH, I have developed my communication skills and gained an understanding of how to pedagogically help others without revealing the correct answer. Furthermore, by correcting the student's reports, I have developed my own critical reading and writing skills.
