Profile bio

About Eric Bartlett

I am an Army veteran who served 5 years as a Military Intelligence Systems Maintainer/Integrator (35T) and deployed once to Iraq. After completing my contract with the Army, my goal was to graduate from a 4 year University. While contemplating what I wanted my future to look like, I worked jobs and completed classes earning my Bachelors Degree in Information Systems at the University of Cincinnati Lindner College of Business. Upon graduation I secured a role at GE Aviation (GE Aerospace now) with their Digital Technology Team. Within this team, I worked regulatory and compliance efforts focused on the the initial stand up for GE's Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program. Specifically, I would assist teams in understanding the new requirements that would affect our systems handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) information. I would provide assessments of the systems current standards and identify the gaps that would be required to be closed in order for that system to match the CMMC standards. I'd communicate those gaps and corrective actions with the systems team, and provide additional assistance as needed. At the end of 2021, I moved positions within GE and now currently work within GE Aerospace's Engineering Department as the Engineering Export Authorization Leader. In this role, I'm responsible for the Export Authorizations that allow our US based team to collaborate with our global teams, suppliers and customers when working with items that are controlled under US Export Regulations. GE is a global company and as such, the requirement to share information with our global teams is a necessity. To assist our teams with this global communication, I draft Export Authorization requests, communicating to the US Government that GE has the need to share items that are controlled by the Department of State (DoS) under the United States Munitions Lists (USML), or items that are controlled by the Department of Commerce (DoC) under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These requests are reviewed by USG entities and when the request is approved I communicate with the requesting team the limitations on what is authorized to be shared under the approved Export Authorization. As part of this communication, I provide training to both our US and our Global Engineering Teams on proper usage of Export Authorizations and ensure they understand proper procedures when sharing controlled items, reducing the risk of Export Escapes.

Listed skills include Great Motivator, Leadership, Military, Leadership Development, and 30 others.

Some of my focus was spent on analyzing Pivotal Cloud Foundry and Artifactory determining ways to reduce space consumption. I spent my last weeks learning Python, and getting a project going that will ultimately help further reduce space consumption. Show less
