Mr. Bélanger joined CIBC Capital Markets in 1994 and is responsible for the global cross-asset capital markets sales, structuring, securitization and quantitative analytics groups that provides equity, foreign exchange, fixed income, government debt origination, commodities, derivatives and structured notes solutions to corporate, government, retail and financial institution clients. He is also a member of the Global Markets Executive Committee, the Capital Markets Technology Steering Committee and CIBC’s Global Risk Committee.When Mr. Bélanger originally joined CIBC Capital Markets, he was in a sales and trading role focused on fixed income and cross-asset derivatives. He was later responsible for distributing structured products to corporate and institutional clients in Quebec and led institutional derivatives sales across Canada. He relocated to Toronto from Montreal in 2008 to head the Financial Solutions Group (FSG), which provides capital markets products and services to financial institutions and pension plans. He later assumed additional responsibility as Head of Retail Solutions Group (RSG) catering to high net worth investors and other retail clients. Mr. Bélanger was appointed to his current role in May 2013. Mr. Bélanger started his career in 1993 with an investment dealer, working from the Montreal Stock Exchange in Institutional Derivatives sales after receiving a Master of Science degree in Finance from HEC Montreal.Mr. Bélanger is an active member of the community and has served as Co-Chair of CIBC Capital Markets’ Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council and received the Most Inclusive Leader award at CIBC in recognition of his efforts to promote and support Diversity in Capital Markets. He was also CIBC’s Chair of the Major Individual Giving Committee for the United Way Campaign in 2015 and 2016, and joined the Children Aid's Foundation's Campaign Leadership Council in March 2017. In 2021, he was selected as one of Women in Capital Markets “WCM” Champions of Change.Mr. Bélanger was elected to the Board of Directors of CIBC Life Insurance Company in March 2017 and to CIBC Foundation’s board in 2022.
