Duties involve administration of a federally‐funded program designed to protect and preserve Lake Champlain and its bi‐state and bi‐national watershed through partnerships that conserve and restore natural resources, promote the use of sound science to support management decisions, enhance water quality, and promote community involvement and stewardship. The Program Director is also responsible for administering the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, a federally recognized National Heritage Area Program and a subprogram of the LCBP whose focus is increasing knowledge and appreciation of the area’s cultural heritage, outdoor recreational opportunities, and historic landmarks.

Coordinate technical research and implementation grants funded by the Lake Champlain Basin Program. Work with LCBP team to develop science/technical content for tri-annual Lake Champlain State of the Lake report. Work with LCBP staff and advisory committees to update Opportunities for Action, the management plan for the Lake Champlain watershed, every 5 years. Serve as grant reviewer for other watershed management funding organizations. Other duties include work to improve decision-making processes, conference planning and organization, guest lectures in classrooms to college and graduate-level students, and speaking to groups about various watershed management issues related to Lake Champlain.

Worked in the Lakes and Ponds unit conducting littoral habitat surveys, and water quality monitoring and assessments for waterbodies throughout Vermont. Assisted with conference planning.
