Directed the grants and education programs at Humanities Texas (HTx), the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Other responsibilities included serving as managing editor of “Texas Originals,” a weekly feature that airs on radio stations statewide and is available as a podcast via iTunes, and preparing grant applications for HTx.

Taught courses to UT undergraduate and graduate students in a range of departments and disciplines. Courses taught include Rare Books and Manuscripts Librarianship, School of Information, 2004; Masterpieces of American Literature, UT Distance Education Center, 2001-04; American Literary Contexts and Contests, Department of English, 1999-2001; The American.

Designed and implemented curricula for courses serving more than 900 students each semester. Trained and supervised more than sixty graduate student instructors in their first year of teaching courses in rhetoric and composition.

Provided on-site and remote reference assistance at one of the nation's leading humanities research archives. Developed educational programs and materials for school groups visiting HRC exhibitions. Special projects included co-founding and co-directing the HRC’s Summer Teacher Institute, which introduces local teachers to the HRC’s holdings and.

Developed a variety of print and online instructional materials for college writing courses. Projects included writing the instructor’s manuals for Good Reasons with Contemporary Arguments (Longman 2003) and the Penguin Handbook (Longman 2003).

Taught courses in literature and academic writing in a college-preparatory curriculum. Advised college-age teaching interns.
