Principal Investigator and research team lead for various residential building energy research projects funded by the US Department of Energy Building Technologies Office. Recent topics include high performance heating/cooling/water heating systems, indoor air quality, and moisture management. In addition to directing research activities, duties include proposal preparation, contract negotiation, project/personnel management, and scientific communications.From 2010-2015 our Building America Partnership for Improved Residential Construction (BAPIRC) worked to develop, validate, and deploy technologies and strategies for high performance new and existing homes and communities. Our team included engineers, analysts, utility partners, manufacturers, and builders working to: • Develop, validate, and implement innovative, real-world solutions that achieve significant energy and cost savings in new and existing homes while improving comfort, durability, and indoor air quality.• Address codes, standards, business, and policy barriers hindering the adoption and implementation of renewable energy, energy efficient, and green building practices.

US DOE - Co-Principal Investigator of Building America Industrialized Housing Partnership (BAIHP). Major activities included builder/subcontractor training on advanced equipment and construction methods, energy auditing, energy simulation and analysis, collection and analysis of monitored energy and environmental data, and development of consumer oriented publications.LEED for Homes™, USGBC - Program Provider/Quality Assurance Designee 2005-2011. Coordinated and marketed residential certification for projects in the Southeastern US and Caribbean. Trained and managed a team of Green Raters and provided quality assurance for certifications. Appointed as member of core committee from 2004-2007 that developed and released the pilot rating system in 2005 and balloted version in 2008. Served on EA and SS/WE/LL TASC committees.Florida Green Building Coalition, Inc. - Chaired development of statewide residential and local government green building certification programs. Coordinate third party review process QA/QC. Developed, maintained, and delivered residential Field Verifier training and accreditation course. Served on Board of Directors from 2002 - 2008.Enterprise Green Communities™ – Provide training and technical assistance on building science and program compliance to potential and participating Florida projects. 2005 – 2007.FL Department of Environmental Protection - Authored guide to help building owners, occupants, and facility managers plan and conduct "green" cleaning and maintenance of existing commercial buildings in Florida (2003).Other Research Experience - Energy Star® Homes Program Evaluation in Local Markets, Building Energy Modeling Software Development and Validation

US DOD - Co-Inventor of process and equipment to remediate point source air pollution. Designed, constructed, and tested bench, pilot, and industrial scale ultraviolet light photoreactors to achieve treatment objectives, and managed chemical laboratory supplies and analytical instruments. Project resulted in 8 US and 2 Canadian patents.Co-Principal Investigator on project to design, optimize, and simulate an integrated renewable hydrogen energy system for remote applications using TRNSYS.
